Sustainability is most often defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.

Certified by the Missouri Botanical Garden as a “Green City”, the City of Clayton supports sustainability within the range of operational requirements unique to local governments. The Clayton Strategic Plan provides a vision of Clayton as a sustainable, welcoming community comprised of desirable neighborhoods, attractive green space, diverse artistic, cultural and recreational opportunities and a multi-model transportation system, all of which foster a safe, healthy and enriched quality of life.

The Clayton Community Foundation (CCF) works with the City’s Sustainability Advisory Committee to assist in the development and support of ecologically sound programs and practices within Clayton's municipal government, the Clayton community and the metropolitan St. Louis region. With Sustainability as a core pillar of CCF, the results manifest within all projects, ranging from construction of LEED certified buildings to upgrades of water bottle filling stations in the parks.

E-Transportation for Police

The vision of the the Clayton Police Department (CPD) is to be "a leading police agency connected to the community." The CPD serves and protects our community daily and is more effective when community members take an active role in enhancing the safety and quality of our neighborhoods.

Electric Transportation (E-Transportation) options are more important today than ever before. The City of Clayton consists of a hybrid of residential areas, a bustling commercial Downtown, and numerous public parks. In order to properly move around the city, but also engage with citizens and visitors effectively, electric-powered bikes (E-Bikes) are the perfect public safety tool. All terrain E-Bikes are trusted and used by the FBI and other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. E-Bikes have a heavy-duty frames similar to mountain bikes, paired with quality components, power technology, and accessories. This demand is only increasing as the technology, affordability, and desire for sustainable practices continues. E-Bikes for the CPD is only one example of E-Transportation needs and possibilities in City departments. Support sustainability and E-Transportation today.

Community policing is a collaboration between the police and the community to solve problems. - Chief of Police, Mark J. Smith
